Here are some of our favorite homemade recipes for a Merry Christmas:

Gingerbread Cookie

Gingerbread Cookies

Ingredients:

3 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon ground ginger

1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon ground cloves

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup brown sugar

1 large egg

1/2 cup molasses

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Icing (optional for decorating)

Instructions:

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, salt, and baking soda.
  2. In a separate large bowl, beat together the butter and brown sugar until smooth.
  3. Add the egg, molasses, and vanilla extract, mixing until combined.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until the dough comes together.
  5. Divide the dough into two, wrap in plastic wrap, and chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
  6. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Roll out the dough on a floured surface and cut into shapes using cookie cutters.
  7. Place the cookies on a baking sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes, or until firm.

Eggnog Muffins

Ingredients:

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 cup sugar

1 tablespoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

1/4 teaspoon salt

2 large eggs

1 cup eggnog

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:

    1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a muffin tin with paper liners.
    2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
    3. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs, eggnog, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.
    4. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring just until combined.
    5. Spoon the batter into the muffin tin, filling each cup about two-thirds full.
    6. Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
    7. Let the muffins cool before serving.
